The players just didn’t seem to want to make any effort; some of the world class players which make up the England team couldn’t even string a couple of passes together. Rooney’s comments after the match only provided more criticism of the England camp.

I don’t know what to make of it. Have we hyped the England team up that much that we all think they are better than they actually are? These players get paid huge amounts of money to play for their country and yet one commentator made the comment that they just didn’t look like they were enjoying themselves. Surely as a footballer, the world cup has got to be one of the highlights of their career and if you can’t enjoy yourself, or even make a strong effort to win then they shouldn’t be there.

Yesterday John Terry spoke out about the performance and the managers decisions stating that England are still a united team. We shall see if this is the case on Wednesday.
